Marty Reed, DVM
Dr. Reed graduated from Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He practiced in Carthage, Mississippi before moving his family to Millington in 1990. He purchased North Shelby in 2001 and it has become a family affair since his wife and son also work there.
Dr. Reed is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Assn., TN & MS Veterinary Medical Assns., and Memphis/Shelby Co. Veterinary Medical Assn. He also sits on the board of directors for the Animal Emergency Center in Memphis.
In his spare time, Dr. Reed likes to work on old vehicles, go camping, and he loves to cook. He and his family share their home with a menagerie of four-legged friends, including a cocker spaniel mix named Grace who goes to work with him every day.
Wyndie Buckler, DVM
Dr. Buckler received her DVM degree from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. She usually gives Dr. Reed a day off each week and also covers for him while he is on vacation.
She and her family reside in Collierville.
Brent Pugh, DVM
Kirby started working here while at Munford High School and became full time in 2003. She has 2 dogs- a Chihuahua named Tanner and a mix named Bosco, 2 cats- Marvin and Reba, and 2 birds- Sweetie and Willie. In her spare time she likes to do arts and crafts and likes to make jewelry as well. What she enjoys most about her job is her co-workers and helping sick or injured pets recover and go on to live a long and happy life.
Crystal started working part time while in high school and became full time after graduating from Munford High School in 2005. She has a daughter named Brianna. Her family pets include 2 dogs named Rocky and Laney as well as 3 cats named Gizmo, Lulu, and JoJo. She enjoys fishing, playing video games, reading, and spending time with family. What she enjoys most about work is the puppies and kittens as well as the hands on experience.
Jake received his B.S. in Animal Science from UT Martin in May 2011 and his masters degree in biology at University of Memphis Dec. 2014 He is an alumnus of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity TN Kappa. Jake enjoys skeet shooting, listening to music, trail riding, cooking, and doing handywork. He and his wife Kathy share their home with their two dogs - Rue and Franklin- and their cat Zach.
Kearsten started working here in July of 2015. Her family pets include a Chihuahua named Happy, a yorkie mix named Magnuss, a cat named Zeppelin, and a parrot named Payton. In her spare time she likes to do outdoor activities like fish and ride horses. Her favorite thing about working at NSAH is learning new things and getting to know the patients.
Katie starting working here part time in April of 2014 as the receptionist. She recently had a baby in September and named her Ember. She has 2 dogs- Ariat and Tucker as well as 3 cats- Lepsy, Flip and Tag. In her free time she enjoys fishing and hunting. Her favorite thing about work is interacting with people and patients especially the puppies and kittens and watching sick patients get better.
Kathy started working part time in January of 2008 while in college at University of TN at Martin. She graduated from UTM in 2011 with a B.S. in Animal Science and in 2013 with a B.S. in Veterinary Technology. She received her license in April 2014. She started working full time at Petmed Emergency Center in June 2013 while remaining part time here at NSAH. In September of 2015 she became full time as technician and office manager. She enjoys spending time with her family and taking her dogs Rue and Franklin for walks. What she enjoys most about work is learning new things and cuddling with puppies and kittens.
Johnathon starting working here in July of 2015 after doing a short class credit for UTK. He currently attends Dyersburg Community College and plans to transfer to UTM to finish his major in Animal Science. He plans to apply to Vet School in the future. He has 4 dogs- Grizzly, Brodie, Roxy and Callie as well as 2 cats- Evie and Cubby. In his spare time he enjoys showing sheep and hogs for FFA and spending time with friends. His favorite thing about working at NSAH is working with animals and meeting new people.
